In October, the whole World is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Charter that became a symbol of a new era of global cooperation. Global Goals Campaigns were launched around the World to promote Sustainable Development Agenda. Belarus has also joined the celebrations with UN70 Express Campaign. However, the UN70 Express campaign was launched not only to celebrate UN 70th anniversary and its contribution to security, development and respect of human rights in the world but also to promote 17 Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by UN General Assembly in 2015 until 2030, among Belarusian citizens. The UN train route covered Minsk - Grodno - Brest - Gomel - Mogilev - Vitebsk - Minsk. Different activities and workshops promoting some of the goals were held in each regional city. Being the UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Darya Domracheva along with the representatives of the UN agencies, Belarusian Government, Embassies and other communities of the Republic of Belarus participated in the Departure Ceremony for the UN70 Express.
The Biathlete noted that this campaign is a great way to draw attention to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals promoted by the United Nations: «This Agenda is not only relevant to the World in general but it is relevant to each and every one of us. Therefore it is very important to start with yourself; set the goal that is close to the heart and move towards it every day».
«If your goal is to protect the environment, then start with the simple things like separating garbage, - said Darya Domracheva. - If your goal is good health and well-being then stop smoking and go in for sports. It’s time to change the world for the better!»
When asked about her own goal Darya said: "Whatever I do - I do to the maximum as I realize that young generation is looking at me and I have to set an example for them to set the right goals and start making the world a better place and bring joy to the people".
